Iris Boyun Lei specializes in gender history, Hong Kong history, and trans-Pacific history. Her current research focuses on prostitution and the trafficking of women in Hong Kong during the late 19th and 20th centuries. Drawing on archival sources from Hong Kong, Mainland China, Britain, and the United States, her study delves into the daily lives of Hong Kong’s prostitutes and explores how international interactions shaped Hong Kong society.
