[Writing Lab] Doing History 101: Workshops in Historical Research

April 9 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

New format this semester! Sharpen your skills in reading and writing History with two hands-on sessions.

Digging into primary sources

(NEW TIME, NEW VENUE) 26 March, Tuesday, 4:00pm-5:00pm (Venue: CPD4.16)

Why do historians place such importance on primary sources?  How might we look for relevant materials? How best are we to approach these documents? In this session, we will explore the uses and limitations of primary sources. We will also locate and analyze some archival materials together!

Writing Lab

9 April, Tuesday, 5:00pm-6:00pm (Venue: Room 7.58, 7/F, Run Run Shaw Tower)

Struggling with a written assignment for a History course? This session will offer an opportunity for students to pose questions and discuss their ideas for ongoing research projects and essays and receive feedback. During the session we will focus on sharing good practices and strategies for the planning and writing of effective history essays. Feel free to bring along your work-in-progress for consultations!

All are welcome. No registration is required. For enquiries, please email chenghl@hku.hk.
