First time taking a History course? Finding the transition from secondary school to university challenging? Doing History 101 is here to guide you every step of the way. These workshops are designed to help students develop practical skills in historical research and writing. All students are welcome, with first-year students especially encouraged to attend. Here are the details for the first workshop of this semester!

Workshop One: Digging into Primary Sources

Date: 2 October 2025 (Thursday)
Time: 1:00-2:30pm
Venue: Room 4.04, 4/F, Run Run Shaw Tower

Unsure what studying History at university involves? Join us as we dive into the world of historical research to discuss the general expectations in our courses and the discipline of History. We will pay special attention to primary sources. Why do historians work with primary sources? How might we look for relevant materials? How best are we to approach these documents? In this session, we will explore the uses and limitations of primary sources. We will also locate and analyze some archival materials together!
