IN HONG KONG HISTORY!
Deadline for application
3 May 2022
Full-time and part-time options
Our programme has two different academic tracks. One prepares students for further study at the PhD level. The other track is oriented more toward self-cultivation and advancement in the professional job market. Both tracks examine Hong Kong history – colonial and post-colonial – as a part of global history. Whether our students aim to become professors or practitioners, or simply to learn more about this fascinating city, they will develop competence in researching and writing the history of Hong Kong.
We prefer applicants with an undergraduate CGPA of at least 3.0/4.0. Applicants who do not meet this requirement may still be considered if their application addresses any inconsistencies in their undergraduate record or presents a convincing argument for exception. All courses (including the dissertation) are assessed with letter grades that correspond to point values, as in HKU’s undergraduate curriculum (for example, A = 4.0, B = 3.0). Students earning very high grades will receive the MA degree "with Distinction". The dissertation supervisor will usually be a full-time instructor at HKU. Each dissertation is examined by the supervisor and a second examiner.
