The Department of History invites you to a series of movie screenings related to the course HIST2108 Empire and the Making of Modern France, taught by Dr. François Drémeaux.
On 12 October at 6:00pm the series will commence with one of the most famous movies about the French colonial era: Indochine (1992). The story is set in 1930, in French Indochina. A widowed French woman who owns a rubber plantation raises a Vietnamese princess as her own daughter. When they both fall in love with a young French naval officer, their lives change irrevocably.
Screening in French with English subtitles. All are welcome. No registration is required.
